In a previous video we showed you how to pitch a traditional “flat” backpacking tarp, however many of you out there are using what are known as shaped tarps or tarp tents. Shaped tarps are tarps that have a predetermined shape and therefore must be pitched a certain way. Though they don’t offer the adaptability of a flat tarp they generally offer better protection from the elements and tighter pitches that hold up well against bad weather.
In this video MeHap will describe how he goes about pitching his Yama Mountain Gear Cirriform 1-Person Tarp. Though every shaped tarp pitches slightly differently, this dual-pole style of shelter is a fairly common design and the tips in the video should transfer well to many shaped tarp designs.
