The pika, sometimes called a “mountain guinea pig,” is a ball of fluff that dwells in the rocks of high elevation mountains. You’ve probably heard their shrill squeaks while you traversed an alpine boulder field. For me, their banter is a welcome noise. It signifies that I am in the mountains… home again.
