AT Thruhike 2019 – Mile 1367.8 to 1460.5; 8/6/19 – 8/12/19; NJ/NY Border – NY/CT Border.
Follow along with us as we head north on the seventh stretch of our flip flop thruhike of the AT. In this episode we cover the entire state of New York. The Appalachian Trail through New York is a surprisingly tough section. Though the climbs aren’t as large as the high elevation mountains of the Northern states, they are often rocky, steep, and roller coaster like in their frequency. Unlike the small rocks of PA, NY has large boulders that require using your hands and very carefully placed trekking poles to ascend and descend. It’s a fun and beautiful state!
